I myself built a new computer(Going to wrap up all the parts and open it for christmas), cost me about ~$1,750 and I saved about ~$1,200 on parts(Not including what you'd pay if you bought one from dell/hp with the same parts..).
Also got a neat 65 inch samsung tv for half price. Saved about ~$1,800.
