Scripts?

Do you have to put scripts in to your arma 2 OA directory?

For the most part, no. It's just the preferred area to place them, so creating pathways for execution is simpler. Some menus might not work if not placed in their target folder though.

As long as you make the pathway to the .sqf in the arma2_scripts.uni (I think that's the folder name) the script will execute via the desired hotkey.

Do you actually need scripts because Im currently using a cheat where you don't need them but this looks much better.
